Scorpions build from the bottom up
Oct 17, 2011
Scorpion Volleyball Club Founder, Paul Langan shares success as a new volleyball club in Ontario in promoting grassroots Volleyball programs.
The Hespeler Scorpions Volleyball Club was formed in 2010 to promote volleyball as a way to get our youth physically active in the Cambridge Ontario and surrounding communities.
We follow the principles set out in the Long-Term Athlete Development strategy. We felt strongly to focus initially on the FUNdamentals, Learning to Train and Training to Train stages of development. We utilize Volleyball Canada Mini-Volley, Atomic Volleyball and the Ontario Volleyball Association Fundamentals and SPIKES programs as our learning standards. The results have been amazing.
In our first year alone we had over 200 youth in our grassroots various learn to play programs and house league. This year we already have 150 youth registered for our fall programs. With our winter learn to play, house league and spring summer beach programs yet to come, we estimate 350 youth will be part of our program in 2011/2012.
We as a club feel strongly in developing strong grassroots volleyball programs as a way to having healthier community to live.
